UGH I hate being late on this post. I don’t even understand…anyway, to catch up with some of my favorites from both Korea and Japan, I’ve combined the indie picks this week.
First up is Loopy, a Korean Cali-based rapper with his latest release, “Goyard.” I didn’t know if I would like it at first because I wasn’t too fond of his part in Dumbfoundead‘s single that he and Nafla featured in.
But I really like it. Too bad I can’t find a download. And looking for his links is HELLLLLL
Speaking of Dumbfoundead, his single, “Mijangwan [미장원] (Hair Salon)” was released in December and features (as mentioned above) Nafla and Loopy.
The video was directed by Dumbfounded and Alex Oh.

Now, onto J-Indie.
Suchmos‘ latest single, “STAY TUNE” is super funky, set in a neon lit club. This is the first time I’ve taken a listen to these guys, and I’m really liking it.
Oh my god you guys, YOU CAN BUY THE SINGLE ON US ITUNES!!!! so….yeah…do that.
Last but not least is Shuta Hasunuma with “Raw Town” from his album, “メロディーズ.” The song is light and sweet, while the music video follows a girl around a city, and a boy who may or may not be following her, but not in a creepy way.
You’ll see.
