Throwback Thursday: Come Back Home

Aight, who the hell thought Seotaiji and Boys were rookies that stole 2NE1‘s song? I’ve heard that several times and what the hell are you people thinking?

HOW DO PEOPLE NOT KNOW OF SEOTAIJI AND BOYS? THEY’RE ONLY THE GODFATHERS OF MODERN K-POP!

One of my fellow old school K-Pop fan friends keeps running into these noobs *smh. Yeah, we’re not S&B biased at all. Nope.

Anywho, rant aside, I’ve done a TT on Seotaiji and Boys before for their song, “Nan Arayo.” This time it’s for their 1995 classic, “Come Back Home,” which was on the fourth and final album, “Seotaiji and Boys IV.”

The song was written during a time when a lot of Korean teenagers were running away from home, and this song urged them back. It worked, and was wildly popular when it was released.

Watch the live performance from MBC‘s, “Top Music” episode 26, original broadcast date: November, 24th, 1995 here:

The point is, this song is completely different, and even if anything WAS borrowed from it, Papa YG was a member…you can’t really steal from yourself. Both songs are great, and both deserve a listen, but if you’re new to K-Pop, don’t assume. Old school fans and stans a like will freak out.

If you want the gloriousness, it’s available on iTunes!
