Yes, Shania Twain. Though she is considered The Queen of Country Pop,” which is a popular American genre of music, she is a Canadian born singer, born Eileen Regina Edwards. She is the only female singer to achieve 3 consecutive Diamond records in any genre.
She debuted in 1993 with her self-titled album, “Shania Twain.” She released 3 more albums, the last of which was released in 2002, “Up!” It came in three versions, Red (Country), Green (Pop), and Blue (Dance).
I remember jumping on my mom’s bed to songs like, “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” and watching “You’re Still The One” on CMT as a child. I grew up on country music, and actually wasn’t allowed to listen to pop music other than Britney Spears and N*Sync until I was about 9 years old, when I first got a room to myself.
Today, I’m going to show you some of my favorite music videos. The first of which is “You’re Still The One,” a song she wrote for her then husband, Robert “Mutt” Lange. It’s always been a favorite of mine.
The second video is “Don’t Be Stupid! (You Know I Love You).” This used to be one of my mom’s favorite songs. She’d blast it anytime it came on. I’ve always loved the little fiddle part in the middle, especially in the music video when they’re river dancing in the water.
“Man! I Feel Like A Woman” is a great song, and the video features Shania being backed by a band of handsome men and throughout the song, strips down, as if to show that she is revealing her confidence in being who she is.
“Up!” I remember getting this CD for Christmas! This was one of my favorite albums growing up! I loved every track on here. “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!” was the first music video released for this album. This is the only video I actually remember watching. I distinctly remember it because she was riding a motorcycle in the video. It’s been about 10 years, but I remember.
